The Cleveland Community College volleyball team hit the road for a doubleheader at Richard Bland College on Saturday, earning a dominant sweep over Louisburg College before falling to host Richard Bland in a competitive three-set match.
Yetis Sweep Louisburg College (3–0)
The Yetis opened the day with a strong performance, defeating Louisburg College in straight sets (25–19, 25–17, 25–17). Cleveland's offense was balanced and consistent, with multiple players stepping up at key moments.
London Brown led the way with 14 kills and 13 digs, putting together another steady two-way performance. Ariann Hernandez added 6 kills and 15 digs, while setter Addison Beaver kept the offense in rhythm with 16 assists and 2 service aces. Avery Lindsey also contributed 3 kills, 9 assists, and 2 aces, while Truly Gibbs chipped in with 4 kills and 2 blocks.
The Yetis' defensive effort anchored the win—Kaitlyn Clutter led with 11 digs, and the team combined for six blocks to keep Louisburg's attack in check. The sweep marked another confident showing for Cleveland, who controlled each set from start to finish.
Richard Bland Tops Yetis in Tight Three-Set Battle (0–3)
In the second match of the day, the Yetis faced host Richard Bland College, battling through two close sets before falling 23–25, 23–25, 15–25.
Ariann Hernandez once again led the offense with 9 kills and 20 digs, while Janiyah Giddens added 7 kills. London Brown tallied 6 kills and 6 digs, and Beaver dished out 17 assists with 9 digs to keep the Yetis competitive throughout.
Cleveland's defense remained solid with 55 total digs, led by Hernandez and Clutter's back-row effort. Despite the loss, the Yetis showed resilience, pushing the first two sets to the wire before running out of steam in the third.
