The Cleveland Community College volleyball team kicked off its 2025 season with an impressive showing at the Raider Classic hosted by Roane State Community College. The Yetis finished the weekend 3–1, highlighted by back-to-back sweeps on opening day and a strong bounce-back win to close the tournament.
Opening Sweep: Cleveland 3, Southern Union State 0
Cleveland opened Friday morning in dominant fashion, sweeping Southern Union State (25–16, 25–14, 25–18).
Sara Rose Warlick led the way with 12 kills, 10 digs, and a match-high 13 points. London Brown chipped in 6 kills and 2 blocks, while Amelia Pilgrim was perfect on 5 swings with 5 kills. Setter Addison Beaver spread the offense with 15 assists and 4 aces, and Avery Lindsey added 11 assists and 7 digs.
The Yetis controlled every set and never allowed the Bison to find momentum.
Sweep of Host Team: Cleveland 3, Roane State 0
Later that afternoon, the Yetis kept rolling, sweeping host Roane State (25–19, 25–16, 25–22).
Warlick was unstoppable with 16 kills and 19 total points, while Ariann Hernandez provided a spark with 8 kills and 5 digs. Beaver directed the attack with 18 assists, and the defense stood tall behind Laney Miller's 8 digs.
Cleveland recorded 41 kills as a team in the win.
Saturday Setback: Richard Bland 3, Cleveland 1
The Yetis' only loss of the weekend came Saturday morning to Richard Bland, falling in four sets (25–17, 20–25, 23–25, 18–25).
Warlick once again delivered double figures with 10 kills and 16 digs. Brown tallied 8 kills, and Gibbs contributed 4 kills with 4 blocks at the net. Beaver finished with 23 assists and 10 digs.
Despite the effort, Cleveland couldn't overcome Richard Bland's consistency late in sets.
Strong Finish: Cleveland 3, Southwest Virginia 1
Cleveland closed the tournament on a high note, downing Southwest Virginia in four sets (23–25, 25–22, 25–20, 25–14).
Warlick capped her stellar weekend with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Brown added 12 kills and 3 blocks. Beaver continued her steady play with 32 assists and 9 digs, and Hernandez chipped in 9 kills and 7 digs.
The Yetis dominated the final frame, pulling away 25–14 to secure the match and finish the Classic with a winning record.
Tournament Takeaways
The Raider Classic not only launched Cleveland's 2025 season but also proved the Yetis have firepower across the lineup. Warlick was a consistent force offensively, Beaver orchestrated the attack, and contributions from Brown, Hernandez, and Pilgrim gave Cleveland balance at the net.
