The Cleveland Community College Yetis battled through a challenging midweek matchup before turning in a dominant weekend performance to secure a series win over GTCC at Yeti Athletics Park.
Game One: CVCC 12, Yetis 8
The Yetis opened the week in a high-scoring showdown against Catawba Valley, ultimately falling 12-8 despite multiple offensive surges.
CVCC struck early with a six-run first inning and never fully relinquished control, adding runs in key moments to keep distance. The Yetis answered with energy, putting together scoring innings in the second, third, and eighth to stay within reach.
Connor Lindsey led the charge with two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Timothy Negron delivered a big moment at the plate with a three-RBI double. Reese Guertin added a solo home run, and Alex McKee contributed with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI.
Despite outhitting spurts and drawing six walks, the Yetis couldn't overcome CVCC's 16-hit performance and early deficit.
Weekend Series: Yetis vs. GTCC
Game One: Yetis 10, GTCC 2
The Yetis bounced back in a big way to open the weekend series, using timely hitting and a strong performance on the mound to secure a 10-2 win.
Reese Guertin was dominant on the mound, going the distance with four strikeouts while allowing just four hits and two runs. At the plate, Tyler Rosario paced the offense with three hits and three RBIs, while Tanner Britt and Connor Lindsey each launched home runs.
Walker Hartley and Alex McKee also contributed multiple runs scored, and the Yetis broke the game open with a four-run seventh inning to seal the victory.
Game Two: Yetis 12, GTCC 2
The Yetis kept the momentum rolling in game two, exploding late for a 12-2 win behind a massive sixth inning.
Cruise Arnold led the offense with two hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs, while Wyatt McSwaim added two RBIs on a clutch hit during the sixth-inning rally. Timothy Negron and Connor Lindsey also drove in runs as the Yetis plated eight runs in the final frame.
On the mound, Aaron Main delivered a strong relief appearance, shutting down GTCC over three innings without allowing a hit.
Game Three: Yetis 6, GTCC 0
Cleveland completed the series win with a dominant shutout performance on Sunday.
Charlie Collins set the tone on the mound, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, while the bullpen combined to finish the four-hit shutout.
Offensively, Tyler Rosario delivered again with a three-run home run, finishing with three RBIs. Walker Hartley added two hits and two runs scored, while Riley Stiles and Bryson Dempsey each contributed RBI hits to keep the Yetis in control throughout the game.
Sophomore Day & Milestone Moment
Saturday's doubleheader also served as Sophomore Day, as 16 Yetis were recognized for their contributions to the program, highlighting the depth and leadership of this year's squad. Players recognized were Cruise Arnold, Tanner Britt, Charlie Collins, David Conner, Charlie Davis, Bryson Dempsey, Evan Estes, Isaiah Hipp, Brooks Hubbard, Anthony Lopossay, Kohen Orr, Ryan O'Rourke, Lawson Powell, Tyler Rosario, Carter Sterchi, and Riley Stiles.
The weekend concluded with a historic moment on Sunday as Cruise Arnold notched his 100th hit of the season, becoming the first player in program history to achieve the milestone. Arnold has also rewritten the record books, setting new program marks for career hits, doubles, and RBIs.
The Yetis showcased resilience and offensive depth throughout the stretch, responding to early adversity with a statement series win and continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
