The Cleveland Community College Yetis closed the regular season with a statement-making stretch, winning four straight games and securing the No. 1 seed heading into the Region 10 Championship. With their series win over Louisburg College, the Yetis captured the Region 10 West Division Regular Season Championship for the first time in school history.
Cleveland finished the regular season 33-20 overall and 27-9 in conference play, riding a powerful offensive surge and clutch late-game performances into postseason play. The Region 10 Championship begins Thursday in Kinston, North Carolina.
The late-season push began in memorable fashion on April 29, when the Yetis battled Catawba Valley Community College under the lights at Gardner-Webb University. Cleveland rallied from a six-run deficit to earn an 11-10 extra-inning victory, setting the tone for a dramatic finish to the regular season.
Against CVCC, the Yetis trailed 10-4 after six innings before storming back. Tanner Britt sparked the comeback in the eighth with a two-run double, and Connor Lindsey delivered the biggest swing of the night with a three-run home run to pull Cleveland even. Lindsey finished 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs, while Cruise Arnold drove in three runs, including the walk-off RBI in the 10th inning.
Timothy Negron added two doubles and two RBIs, and Britt finished with two RBIs. Aaron Main was outstanding in relief, shutting down CVCC over the final 2.2 innings. Main did not allow a hit, struck out five and earned the win as the Yetis completed the comeback.
Cleveland carried that momentum into the weekend series at Louisburg and opened with a dominant 17-3 win on May 1. The Yetis piled up 16 hits and broke the game open with four runs in the third, four more in the fifth and an eight-run sixth inning.
Reese Guertin led the charge at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs, while Timothy Negron was perfect at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance, three RBIs, a double, a walk and three stolen bases. Walker Hartley went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, and Tanner Britt added two hits, two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Alex McKee also drove in a run and scored twice.
Guertin also earned the win on the mound, throwing six innings with six strikeouts as the Yetis rolled to the series-opening victory.
The second game of the May 1 doubleheader was a much tighter battle, but Cleveland found a way to finish. The Yetis edged Louisburg 3-2 in eight innings behind timely hitting and strong pitching.
Walker Hartley delivered the game-winning RBI single in the eighth inning, scoring Riley Stiles to break a 2-2 tie. Hartley finished with a hit, two walks, an RBI and a run scored, while Tanner Britt and Stiles each drove in a run. Stiles also stole two bases as Cleveland continued to create pressure on the basepaths.
Charlie Collins gave the Yetis six strong innings, allowing two runs while striking out five. Aaron Main closed the door with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and earning his eighth win of the season.
Cleveland completed the series with another offensive explosion on May 3, defeating Louisburg 17-13 in a high-scoring finale. The Yetis jumped out quickly, scoring four runs in the first, four in the second and three in the third to build an early 11-3 lead.
Cruise Arnold powered the offense with a historic performance, going 4-for-5 with three home runs, four runs scored and nine RBIs. Arnold drove in runs in the first, second, third and sixth innings, including a pair of three-run blasts that helped Cleveland stay in control.
Negron continued his strong series, going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Hartley added three hits, four runs scored and an RBI, while Reese Guertin doubled and drove in two runs. Tanner Britt, Connor Lindsey and Brooks Hubbard each added an RBI as the Yetis produced 15 hits in the win.
Louisburg pushed back with 17 hits and several big innings, but Cleveland's offense answered every challenge. Aaron Main again gave the Yetis valuable relief work, tossing two scoreless innings, while Gabe Tatum handled the final two frames to help secure the victory.
Across the four-game stretch, Cleveland's lineup delivered in every situation — late-inning rallies, run-rule pressure, extra-inning execution and power production. The Yetis combined for 48 runs over the final four regular-season games and showed the depth of an offense capable of changing a game quickly.
With the regular season complete, Cleveland now turns its attention to the Region 10 Championship in Kinston. The Yetis enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed and the first Region 10 West Division Regular Season Champions in program history, carrying momentum, confidence and a record-setting season into postseason play.
