The Cleveland Community College Yetis faced a challenging midweek road test at Walters State before bouncing back in a big way, capturing a dominant series victory over Louisburg College at home. Across five games, the Yetis showcased resilience at the plate, explosive offensive production, and clutch late-inning execution.
March 18 @ Walters State
Game 1: Walters State 13, Yetis 5
The Yetis found themselves in an early hole after Walters State plated three runs in the second inning, but Cleveland responded with a strong fourth inning to take the lead.
Evan Estes sparked the rally with a two-RBI performance, while Tanner Britt delivered the biggest swing of the game—a three-run home run that pushed the Yetis ahead 4-3. Cleveland added another run in the fifth to tie things at 5-5.
However, Walters State broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring eight runs to pull away.
Britt led the Yetis with three RBIs, while Estes added two hits and two RBIs. Tyler Rosario chipped in with a double as part of the seven-hit effort.
Game 2: Walters State 9, Yetis 6
The Yetis responded with a much stronger showing in game two, jumping out to a 6-1 lead through four innings.
Walker Hartley drove in two runs, Tyler Rosario collected two hits, including a double and an RBI, and Alex McKee added an RBI. Lawson Powell showed patience at the plate with three walks and an RBI, helping fuel a 10-hit offensive performance.
On the mound, Aaron Main provided a key stretch of relief, tossing three scoreless innings to keep the Yetis in control.
But Walters State rallied late, scoring three runs in the sixth before a five-run seventh inning flipped the game. A grand slam proved to be the difference as the Yetis fell 9-6.
March 21 - Yetis Athletics Park
Game 1: Yetis 9, Louisburg 7
Back at home, the Yetis delivered one of their most thrilling wins of the season.
Trailing late, Cleveland exploded in the bottom of the ninth inning. Tanner Britt launched a go-ahead grand slam, and moments later, Alex McKee followed with a two-run home run to seal the comeback victory.
Britt finished with four RBIs, while McKee added three hits and two RBIs. Cruise Arnold led the offense with three hits, and Brooks Hubbard added two hits and scored twice.
On the mound, Isaiah Hipp earned the win in relief, closing out the final inning after a strong outing from Drew Hayes, who tossed three scoreless frames.
Game 2: Yetis 6, Louisburg 4
The Yetis carried their momentum into game two, using a four-run fourth inning to take control.
Tanner Britt continued his hot streak with a two-run home run, while Walker Hartley and Wyatt McSwaim each drove in runs. Cruise Arnold contributed both at the plate and on the basepaths, adding an RBI and a stolen base.
Drew Yelton delivered a standout performance on the mound, going the distance with 11 strikeouts to secure the win.
Game 3 (March 22): Yetis 15, Louisburg 7
Cleveland capped off the series with a dominant offensive display, scoring 15 runs on 11 hits.
Brooks Hubbard led the charge with a massive six-RBI performance, including a bases-clearing hit and a sacrifice fly. Reese Guertin added three RBIs, while Tyler Rosario drove in two and scored three times.
The Yetis erupted for 11 runs across the first two innings, setting the tone early and never looking back.
After a tough start, Brady Raye and Kohen Orr combined for strong relief efforts, shutting down Louisburg over the final innings to secure the win.
