The Cleveland Community College Yetis battled through two competitive contests this week but came up short in both matchups, falling to USC Lancaster on the road before a narrow extra-inning loss at home against Walters State.
USC Lancaster 14, Cleveland CC Yetis 9
The Yetis' offense came out swinging in a high-scoring matchup with USC Lancaster, collecting 13 hits and plating nine runs, but a big seventh inning by the Lancers proved to be the difference.
Cleveland showed early momentum, scoring three runs in both the second and third innings. Tanner Britt led the charge with a standout performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs. His bat sparked multiple scoring rallies and kept the Yetis within striking distance.
Timothy Negron added a strong showing, finishing 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Cruise Arnold and Evan Estes each contributed key RBIs. Brooks Hubbard also drove in two runs, helping power the Yetis' offensive effort.
After building a 7-5 lead midway through the game, the Yetis looked poised to take control. However, USC Lancaster erupted for six runs in the seventh inning, flipping the momentum and putting the game out of reach.
Despite the loss, Cleveland's lineup showcased depth and production throughout the order.
Walters State 7, Cleveland CC Yetis 6 (10 innings)
Back at home, the Yetis fought through a tightly contested battle that stretched into extra innings but ultimately fell 7-6 in a heartbreaker.
Walters State jumped out early with two runs in the first, but the Yetis steadily chipped away. Walker Hartley put Cleveland on the board with an RBI single, and the offense continued to build momentum through the middle innings.
David Conner delivered a clutch performance, driving in two runs, including a key RBI to tie the game in the fifth. Evan Estes also came through in a big moment, recording a two-RBI single in the seventh inning to even the score at 6-6 and send the game into extras.
Riley Stiles added two hits and an RBI, while Hartley and Tanner Britt each recorded multi-hit games to keep the offense moving.
On the mound, Charlie Collins went five innings with five strikeouts, and Drew Hayes battled through four innings of relief.
The game remained deadlocked until the 10th inning when Walters State pushed across the go-ahead run. The Yetis were unable to respond in the bottom half, sealing the narrow defeat.
Despite the outcomes, the Yetis continue to show resilience and offensive firepower as they compete through a demanding stretch of the season.
