The Cleveland Community College Yetis battled through a challenging four-game slate this past week, but the box scores told the story of an offense that continues to produce and multiple players stepping up in big moments.
USC Lancaster 15, Cleveland 5 (Feb. 11)
The Yetis collected eight hits in the midweek matchup, highlighted by a clutch fourth inning surge.
Walker Hartley delivered a two-RBI single to center to plate Evan Estes and Brooks Hubbard, igniting the dugout. Chase Powell added an RBI single in the sixth, while Cruise Arnold and Hartley each drove in runs to keep the Yetis within striking distance.
Lawson Powell, Tanner Britt, Wyatt McSwaim, Tyler Rosario, and Timothy Negron each contributed hits as Cleveland consistently put traffic on the bases. On the mound, Isaiah Hipp provided a steady inning of relief work, striking out one and holding the Lancers scoreless during his appearance.
Patrick Henry 7, Cleveland 5 (Feb. 13)
The Yetis' offense racked up 10 hits in the series opener against Patrick Henry, with several bats heating up.
Tyler Rosario led the charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Timothy Negron powered the lineup from behind the plate, finishing 2-for-5 with two RBIs, including a key two-run single in the seventh inning that cut into the deficit.
Wyatt McSwaim added two hits and an RBI, while Riley Stiles and Reese Guertin each crossed the plate. Brooks Hubbard chipped in with a base hit, and the Yetis showed patience at the plate with five walks.
On the mound, Charlie Collins struck out eight over 5.1 innings of work, keeping the Yetis in contention before Gabe Tatum came on in relief and recorded six strikeouts over the final 3.2 frames.
Patrick Henry 8, Cleveland 7 (Feb. 14 – Game One)
Game one of Saturday's doubleheader turned into an offensive showdown, with the Yetis pounding out 10 hits.
Timothy Negron had a breakout performance, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Tyler Rosario delivered the biggest swing of the day, launching a three-run homer to center as part of a 2-for-5 outing with three RBIs.
Brooks Hubbard added two hits and scored twice, while Wyatt McSwaim and Tanner Britt each drove in runs. Britt also tallied a base hit and continued to be a steady presence in the lineup.
On the mound, Brady Raye provided strong relief, tossing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to give the Yetis a chance late.
Patrick Henry 7, Cleveland 6 (Feb. 14 – Game Two)
The nightcap featured another competitive battle, with the Yetis striking early and showcasing timely hitting.
In the second inning, Cleveland plated four runs, capitalizing on disciplined at-bats and aggressive baserunning. Alex McKee led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double and two RBIs. Tanner Britt also turned in a two-hit game, while Evan Estes scored twice and added a base knock.
Walker Hartley drove in a run and swiped a base, and Cruise Arnold added an RBI. Tyler Rosario and Wyatt McSwaim each contributed hits as the Yetis continued to apply pressure.
Out of the bullpen, Charlie Davis recorded two strikeouts over 1.1 scoreless innings, keeping the Yetis within reach down the stretch.
Despite the results, Cleveland's lineup showed depth and resilience throughout the four-game stretch. With multiple Yetis stringing together multi-hit performances and the pitching staff generating strikeouts in key spots, Head Coach John Grigg's team continues to build momentum as the season unfolds.
