Cleveland Community College's women's basketball team delivered two strong performances at home in mid-December—first overwhelming Brunswick with balanced scoring and elite execution, then locking in defensively to take down Southwest Virginia in a physical, low-scoring battle.
Dec. 12 – vs. Brunswick CC
Cleveland 89, Brunswick 54
After a tight opening quarter, Cleveland seized control in the second period and never let up, pulling away with a 26–17 second quarter before slamming the door with a dominant 31–13 fourth to secure the 89–54 win.
The Yetis were sharp offensively and unselfish all night, finishing with 23 assists—and most impressively, zero turnovers, completely eliminating Brunswick's transition opportunities.
Jada Whitesides led the way with 21 points and a double-double of 11 rebounds, while also adding 5 assists and active defense. Sydnie Enste gave Cleveland a strong interior presence with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Kari Lee filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists, helping drive the tempo and keep the offense flowing.
Cleveland also got major bench production to maintain pressure throughout: La'Tayshia Andrews scored 10, Isabella Childs added 8, and Kate Glover chipped in 7 points with 5 assists, as the Yetis' depth kept Brunswick chasing for four quarters.

Cleveland followed with a gritty defensive win, holding Southwest Virginia to 49 points and just 24.3% shooting. After trailing 12–10 after the first quarter, the Yetis responded with steady defense and a strong third quarter—outscoring Southwest 21–17—to gain separation.
De'Mya Phifer powered Cleveland offensively with 21 points and 9 rebounds, consistently creating scoring chances in traffic and finishing strong around the basket. Sydnie Enste continued her impact inside with 13 points and 8 rebounds, including 6 offensive boards, and added 2 blocks to anchor the paint.
The Yetis' defense was the difference-maker: Cleveland posted 11 steals and 8 blocks, turning stops into momentum-swinging possessions. Jada Whitesides contributed across the board with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, while Kenzie Ross provided a defensive spark with 2 steals and 2 blocks off the bench.
