Yetis storm back after slow start, close out Louisburg 88–76
Dec. 6 – Cleveland 88, Louisburg 76
Three days later, the Yetis had to work for it.
Louisburg came out swinging, shooting confidently and taking a 27–20 lead after the first quarter. Cleveland trailed 45–38 at halftime, but responded with a big defensive shift and a relentless attack on the rim in the second half.
The Yetis outscored Louisburg 26–12 in the third quarter to flip the game, then sealed it with a 24–19 advantage in the fourth for an 88–76 win.
Once again, Cleveland leaned on its leaders:
-
De'Mya Phifer delivered a huge two-way performance with 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals, attacking downhill and turning defense into offense.
-
Kari Lee powered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds, going 9-for-12 at the free-throw line and adding 2 steals.
-
Sydnie Enste added 13 points and 5 rebounds, providing steady interior scoring.
-
Jada Whitesides chipped in 12 points, including 7-of-10 from the line, plus 2 assists and a steal, giving Cleveland another reliable option in pressure moments.
Cleveland's ability to get to the stripe proved crucial. The Yetis went 29-of-39 at the free-throw line, punishing Louisburg for fouls and closing the game like a veteran team. On the defensive end, Cleveland forced 19 turnovers, turning those miscues into transition opportunities to erase the early deficit.
Off the bench, Kenzie Ross and Kate Glover combined for solid minutes, while Isabella Childs added 4 points, and Haley Dalton pulled down 5 rebounds with 2 blocks and a steal, once again impacting the game defensively.
Across the two wins, Cleveland flashed both sides of a championship profile:
-
The ability to overwhelm opponents with tempo and depth (117–62 vs. Denmark Tech).
-
The toughness to weather a slow start and finish strong against a quality opponent (88–76 vs. Louisburg).
With multiple players capable of leading the scoring column on any given night and a rotation that keeps the pressure high for four quarters, the Yetis continue to look the part of a dangerous, nationally ranked program as they move deeper into the season.
