Yetis Track & Field Showcases Strength at App State Open
Boone, NC — The Cleveland Community College Yetis Track & Field team brought competitive energy and impressive performances to the track this past Friday at the App State Open, hosted by Appalachian State University.
Houser Launches Big in Shot Put
Justin Houser led the team with a standout showing in the shot put, recording his second-best mark of the season with a throw of 11.71 meters. His consistent strength in the field continues to be a cornerstone of the Yetis' throws unit this spring.
Cruise Vaults into Top Ten
Pole vaulter Hunter Cruise added to the Yetis' highlights with a top-ten finish, clearing 3.90 meters. Cruise's result reflects the work he's put into the technical event this season and places him among the top competitors in a talented field.
Strong Representation Across Events
The Yetis' versatility was on display across track and field disciplines:
- Noah Rollins joined Cruise in the pole vault, gaining valuable experience against high-level competition.
- John Davis tackled a demanding slate, competing in the 400 meters, 200 meters, and the high jump. His all-around effort showed both endurance and athleticism.
- Christian Barnette and Marty Lovingood represented CCC in the 800 meters, attacking the mid-distance race with grit.
- Leilanni Delano hit the track in the 400 meters, continuing to build momentum in her freshman campaign.
Building Toward a Strong Finish
With each meet, the Yetis continue to gain experience and build confidence against four-year schools and regional rivals. The App State Open provided a strong test and highlighted the team's growth across the board.
