The Cleveland Community College men's basketball team wrapped up a demanding three-game stretch last week, highlighted by a strong road win over Louisburg College after back-to-back contests earlier in the week.
Fayetteville Technical CC 96, Cleveland 90
The Yetis went toe-to-toe with Fayetteville Technical in a high-scoring matchup, matching the Trojans bucket for bucket in both halves. Cleveland shot an efficient 51.4% from the floor and 40.9% from three-point range, but Fayetteville capitalized at the free throw line, converting 24-of-29 attempts to edge out the 96-90 decision.
Jamari Smith led the Yetis with 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting, adding three rebounds and two steals. Kelan Flowers poured in 16 points with two triples, while Cameron McDowell provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, knocking down 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Miles Beard added 11 points and three rebounds, and Jacob Adair contributed 10 points and five boards. Cairo Morales controlled the glass with eight rebounds to go along with eight points, helping Cleveland stay within striking distance throughout.
DDCC Storm 71, Cleveland 56
On the second night of the road stretch, the Yetis ran into a tough DDCC squad. Cleveland battled on the boards, pulling down 38 rebounds, including 14 offensive boards, but struggled to find consistent rhythm offensively.
Jamari Smith once again led the way with 10 points and six rebounds. Miles Beard came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points, while Kelan Flowers added nine points and Jacob Adair chipped in six, including two three-pointers.
Tamareion Roundtree anchored the interior with seven rebounds and six points, and Josh Bullock contributed six boards and four points in extended minutes.
Cleveland 86, Louisburg College 80
The Yetis closed the week on a high note, earning an 86-80 road victory over Louisburg behind one of their most complete offensive performances of the season. Cleveland shot 57.6% from the field and a blistering 50% from three-point range while dominating the glass with a 33-19 rebounding advantage.
Kelan Flowers led the charge with 21 points, hitting three triples and going a perfect 4-for-4 at the line, while also dishing out five assists. Miles Beard matched that 21-point output off the bench, shooting 8-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-6 from deep to provide a major lift.
Jacob Adair added 10 points, and Jamari Smith contributed 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals in a well-rounded effort. Tamareion Roundtree was efficient inside with nine points on 4-of-5 shooting and six rebounds, while Cairo Morales chipped in eight points and five boards.
The Yetis' balanced scoring attack and control on the boards proved to be the difference down the stretch as they secured the road win.
Cleveland continues to show resilience through a packed schedule, with multiple players stepping up offensively and on the glass. The Yetis will look to build on their momentum from the Louisburg victory as they prepare for the next stretch of conference play.
