Bio
Coach Adams is a native of the Gastonia area and a former collegiate basketball player at UNC Pembroke and Rockingham Community College (2002-2004). While at UNC Pembroke, Adams gained experience as a player and coach that sparked a lasting passion for coaching. Over the past 20 years, he has built an impressive career coaching both high school and collegiate basketball. Before joining Cleveland Community College in 2024 as the Associate Head Coach, Adams served as Head Coach at West Cabarrus High School, where he guided the program from its inaugural season and established a strong foundation on and off the court. His coaching career also includes successful stints at Mallard Creek High School, Ashbrook High School, and several NCAA Division II institutions, including Northeastern State University, University of Montevallo, Tarleton State University, and his alma mater, UNC Pembroke.

  • Coached 17 players who signed professional contracts
  • Developed 16 All-Conference collegiate athletes and 10 All-Conference high school players
  • Guided 5 NCAA Division II Tournament teams
  • Contributed to championship runs, including:
    • NCAA West Division II Champions (University of Montevallo)
    • Lone Star Conference Champion (Tarleton State University)
    • Peach Belt and Lone Star Conference Tournament Runner-up finishes
Adams holds a master’s degree in physical education Sports Administration and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He and his wife, Anna, have one daughter, Kinleigh.
